Biopsy of skin lesions
Biopsy of skin lesions
Umów wizytęOpis zabiegu
The biopsy begins by disinfecting and anesthetizing the area from which the sample is to be taken. Then, depending on the method chosen, the doctor uses a special instrument (e.g. a scalpel in the case of an excisional biopsy or a special needle in the case of a fine-needle biopsy) to take a small part of the skin lesion. The tissue sample is then placed in a preservative solution and sent to the pathology laboratory for microscopic analysis. After the procedure, the biopsy site is dressed and the patient is given instructions on wound care.
