Consultation and Videodermoscopy of Pigmented Nevi

Videodermoscopy is a non-invasive diagnostic examination used after a dermatoscopic examination when the physician identifies lesions that require deeper diagnosis. The videodermoscope is a modern combined optical device that provides up to 400x magnification of skin lesions. The image is transmitted to a computer workstation, where specialized software maps it and, using advanced algorithms, assesses the risk of cancer development.
This allows for high-resolution images of the examined skin areas and enables archiving results for future comparison. The procedure does not require anesthesia and is completely painless.

During the procedure, the patient is positioned comfortably while the specialist uses a videodermoscope, which is applied directly to the skin. The device emits light that penetrates skin layers, allowing detailed examination of pigmented structures and blood vessels. The images are displayed on a computer screen, enabling precise analysis and assessment of pigmentary changes. The entire process usually takes from several to several dozen minutes, depending on the number of lesions being examined.
Melanoma is the most dangerous malignant skin tumor, but if detected at an early stage, it is entirely curable. This makes preventive care essential. Each year, approximately 2,500 people in Poland are diagnosed with melanoma, but sadly, nearly half die due to seeking specialist help too late. According to recent recommendations, even healthy individuals without concerning nevi should undergo skin examinations every three years. In cases of multiple moles, a family history of melanoma, childhood sunburns, or frequent use of tanning beds, the frequency of check-ups is determined by a dermatologist. Remember, prevention is key to health, and we at Your Med know this best.
