Retainer plate

A retention plate is a removable orthodontic appliance used after treatment with fixed braces to consolidate the effects and prevent the recurrence of malocclusion. The appliance is made of an acrylic plate and metal brackets that hold it on the teeth. The patient wears the plate for a specific period during the day, as recommended by the orthodontist.

Duration: Wearing of the tray for 6-12 months, several hours a day.

Preparation: Consultation, taking an impression or scan of the teeth.

Course: Fitting of the finished tray, instructions for fitting and care.

Results: Maintenance of tooth position and stabilization of the bite.

Recovery: None, regular check-ups with the orthodontist are required.
