Retention check

A retention check is a key stage of orthodontic treatment, designed to monitor the stability of the results achieved once the braces have been worn. It involves assessing the condition of the bite, the performance of retainers (fixed or removable), and the correction of any retention problems. Regular visits ensure that the correct alignment of the teeth is maintained and prevent the recurrence of malocclusion.

Duration: Visits last 15-30 minutes every 3-12 months.

Preparation: Regular wearing of retainer, oral hygiene.

Course: Assessment of retainer performance, bite stability, and possible correction.

Results: Maintaining the position of the teeth, preventing the recurrence of malocclusion.

Recuperation: None; patient continues to use retainer.
